Entry Deadline
All applications must include an up-to-date transcript with a postmark of March 31, 2026. Applications submitted after this date will not be considered. Winners will be notified in May.
Applicant Requirements
- Must be a Weis Markets associate or a child of an associate.
- Who has been employed for at least one year as of March 1, 2026.
- Must have at least two years of college or one year of trade school remaining beginning with the 2026 – 2027 school year.
Thomas R. and Laura Ridge Scholarship
The Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association is pleased to announce that money from the Thomas R. and Laura Ridge Scholarship is now available.
The scholarships are named in honor of Thomas R. and Laura Ridge, parents of former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge. Thomas R. Ridge was a member of the Pennsylvania food industry for 25 years. Laura, was a strong advocate of education for their children Tom, David and Vikki.
Scholarships Awarded
- One-year, $2,500 scholarships are available for the 2026-27 school year.

Entry Deadline
Applications and all materials must be received via the online application by MONDAY, MARCH 2, 2026.
Applicants will be notified no later than June 5, 2026, via email. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure all materials are received prior to the deadline. An independent judging panel will select winners based on academic success, excellence of character and potential for community contributions and leadership.
Applicant Requirements

You have worked for one year as of Jan. 1, 2026, for a company that is a member (in good standing) of the Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association and still work there, OR
- You are the child or step-child of a qualified employee listed above, OR
- You are the child or step-child of an owner of a PFMA member store
- You have worked for one year as of Jan. 1, 2026, for a company that is a member (in good standing) of the Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association and still work there, OR
